Case Study: Creative Dimension Trust

This new charity offers people aged 14-18, who demonstrate exceptional talent or potential in craft related subjects, the opportunity to learn fine craft skills with Crafts Specialists who are acknowledged leaders in their profession; and through these courses, to give young people the skills and confidence to pursue a career in which fine hand skills are a prerequisite. Such careers would include architecture, engineering and surgery, as well as many professions in the cultural and creative industries.

In 2015 the Trustees supported a pilot 5-day course for 24 young participants who were taught drawing and also gilding or parquetry. In summer 2016 young participants will learn from the top specialists in the fields of marquetry and parquetry, gilding, stone-working, head modelling, stained glass, needlework / embroidery and raised gesso work.
